The future stars of Supercross will line up behind the gates on November 16 in front of a packed crowd at Mt Smart Stadium for the Yamaha bLU cRU YZ65 Cup at the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland.

The feature class will give 20 young riders the incredible experience of racing alongside the world’s best Supercross athletes, with the lucky juniors selected from a mix of current YZ65 owners.

The junior riders get to experience what it’s like to be a professional rider and become guests of Yamaha’s factory race teams, including mentoring from JCR Yamaha factory riders and owner Josh Coppins.

“Yamaha Motor New Zealand is super excited to be hosting a YZ65 Cup at the Auckland S-X Open, allowing a select group of riders to experience a once in a lifetime experience to race in front of a National crowd and receive the full Yamaha Factory Race Team experience,” said Dinesh Chhagn, Marketing and Communications Coordinator for Yamaha NZ.

“The YZ65 Cup experience at S-X Open will see kids enjoy the full bLU cRU treatment, and to see so many happy faces and positive feedback form the experiences over in Australia we’re pumped to be offering this experience to the up-and-coming stars of New Zealand Supercross.”

The Yamaha bLU cRU YZ65 Cup will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for young riders to get a taste of their future on the track and experience the ultimate level of the sport before hitting the big time.

Yamaha ambassador and former World Champion Ben Townley says the addition of the YZ65 Cup to the S-X Open Auckland schedule is a huge coup for grassroots racing in New Zealand.

“To give these kids the opportunity to experience the highest levels of the sport at such a young age is a massive win for these youngsters and it’s fantastic to see Yamaha and the S-X Open Auckland getting right behind grassroots racing,” said Townley.

“To be able to race on a world class track, under extremely safe conditions, will allow these up and coming stars the chance to craft their skills and learn some valuable life lessons while having plenty of fun along the way.”

Adding to the excitement and involvement at the Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland, Yamaha will also have the Kids Rev Zone in full swing within the Pit Party precinct at Mt Smart Stadium on Nov 16.

This is where kids get to be motorcycle riders for a day, with the Yamaha Kids Rev Zone allowing kids get to experience riding a motorbike in a safe, controlled environment with the amazing team at Yamaha – all free to S-X Open ticket holders, within the Pit Party precinct.
